Beauty is the root of all evil" - that's how I would rephrase the famous saying to describe my prom night. You might think that I have a high opinion of myself, but in reality, it was my desire to look good, probably deriving from my insecurity, and disregard for comfort that led me astray that night.
First of all, I would like to note that the prom itself was a fairly pleasant event, and I have mostly warm memories of it. However, there were a few things that could have improved it. And the first one is that I should have started preparing for the night in advance. I thought that finding the right dress would be easy. The problem was that I wanted a green dress, and all the stores at that time were flooded with all shades of pink and red dresses, as well as a few blue ones. Fortunately, my friend was studying fashion at the time, and she kindly offered to sew me the dress of my dreams. We found the perfect fabric and designed the dress together. Everything went well, except for the lack of time - she did her best, but still didn't have time to finish a few seams. Fortunately, everything was fine with the dress, but it made me a little nervous.
The second thing I should’ve worried about was a spare pair of flat shoes. I bought high heels that turned out to be not quite comfortable, given that the event lasted all night and involved dancing, contests, and watching the sunrise. So after about midnight, I could barely walk and looked enviously at the girls who took care of this and changed into more comfortable shoes. Undoubtedly, these problems could not spoil such an important night and the pleasure from it. But I would have preferred not to deal with them at all.
In conclusion, I would like to share some life lessons that I learned from this story. First of all, since then I have started preparing for events in advance, and if it is impossible, I downgraded the initial plan to fit the deadlines, and secondly - I have started to care more about comfort than beauty. And, of course, now I either wear flat shoes or always carry them with me.
